A New Season is Coming - Super ShowDown
A New Season is on the horizon.
Season 11 has brought us BOOM!, Flip cards, foil cards, variants, Tights and Titans, Beat the Oracle, tons of new rarities, and even more special and limited edition cards. Itโs been a whirlwind of a season, and weโre excited to bring it up to an even dozen with what weโve got in store for Season 12.
You ready?ย
The flagship feature of Season 12, releasing November 12th (thatโs fun, eh?), is a new permanent game mode called Super ShowDown.ย
Much like BOOM! and the WILD rework that came in S10, weโre hanging our hat on what we think is a compelling new mode that will expand the way that players interact with WWE SuperCard. A new permanent mode means new ways to earn cards, complete quests and objectives, and of courseโearn unique SEs.
Even so, thatโs all beside the point. So whatโs the point? Super ShowDown is a very fun new mode; thatโs the point.ย
SUPER SHOWDOWNย

Note: all screenshots and cards shown are not final.
Super ShowDown uses a roguelike structure in which your progress is reset after each run. Your goal is to build a set of cards unique to that specific โrunโ and make as much progress as possible with the hand youโve been dealt. Once the run is over, youโll get a fresh start with a brand-new run. The better you do in each run, the more rewards youโll grab over time.
Letโs back up and break it down step-by-step.ย
When starting your run, youโll first be given a starting set of 12 cards, randomly selected. Notably, these arenโt cards that enter your inventory and become yours to keep; theyโre solely for the runโsimilar to how the Survivor mode works.ย
Once youโve got your deck, it's time to start the run. Your goal from this point forward will be to complete as many Rounds as possible. Just as each run is made up of rounds, each round is made up of Matches, which look similar to games of WILDโdraw 4 cards, play cards from your hand, and the cards with the higher stats in the chosen category win. If you can manage to win at least half of the matches in a given round, youโll progress to the next one and collect any rewards as a result of your victory. In addition to increasingly powerful rewards, youโll also earn milestone points after each round, allowing you to unlock cumulative extras along the way, like a unique Super ShowDown Special Edition cards that will reset periodically-- here are the first two:

Each round contains a variable number of matches. You may encounter rounds with five or more matches, allowing you to experiment a bit more with your strategy, or you may encounter rounds with a single match.ย Stay vigilant as you progress, as your run could end at any moment.ย
As you move from match to match, youโll encounter additional roadblocks that may hinder your progress, depending on your deck. Match Requirements add restrictions that require you to play your cards carefully, or else they wonโt count in the match, significantly diminishing your stat total for the bout. Match Requirements may ask you to play three cards with different alignments, play the strongest/weakest card in your hand, or play a certain number of cards.ย
Redraws serve as a tool in your belt to help combat random chance requirements and difficult matches. If you pull cards that donโt suit the challenge, youโll be given two opportunities per round to discard your entire hand and draw a fresh one. Hold onto these until you need them, thoughโonce youโre out of redraws, you need to wait until the next round for a refresh.ย
Naturally, each round will increase in difficulty, so whatโs a SuperCard player to do? Well, after winning each round, youโll be placed into the drafting process. Super ShowDown has its own 3x4 card Draft Board that applies only during your run. Youโll be given at least a set of picks from the board that may change from round to round. On the SDD Draft Board, youโll see:
Superstar Cards: Expand your deck with more powerful Superstars
Cheat Cards: Single-use consumable boosts to change the tide of a matchย
Rule Cards: Cards that buff your deck for the entire run. You can hold up to four Rule Cards at a time
Modifier Cards: Single-use consumable boosts to a single card in your deck that apply for the entire run
As you pull new cards between rounds, the choice will fall onto you to build your deck for the coming round. This is when youโll apply Modifier Cards as well as look for new Superstar, Cheat, and Rule cards that you might need for the next round. Speaking of, youโll be able to see your opponentโs deck as well as the match requirements of each match of the next round, so plan accordingly.ย
Once your run comes to an end, youโll receive rewards corresponding to the last round you wonโ for example, if round 11 knocked you out, youโll receive round 10 rewards in addition to any milestone points youโve picked up along the way.ย
Finally, youโll notice a leaderboard that tracks the highest number of rounds reached across the community. While there are no rewards directly tied to the leaderboard, there are some serious bragging rights on the line.ย
Weโll leave the rest of the twists and turns of Super ShowDown up to you to discover when it releases with Season 12 on November 12th.
